Tripletail park themselves under floating structure like
they signed a lease on it. Stone crab trap buoys, channel
markers, weed lines, anything that breaks the surface. You
run the buoy line at first light, find one tucked tight
against the float, and pitch a live shrimp under a cork.
Sometimes you set the hook clean and never see the fish
again. The cork went down on the first cast. He ran
straight under the trap line and the leader gave up on
a sharp piece of barnacle six inches above the hook.
The buoy is still there. The fish is still there. You
are the only thing missing from the photo.
