Our Story

The Short Version

Every fishing brand out there takes themselves way too seriously. We started Broke Off Co. in Madeira Beach because somebody had to say what every angler already knows: the fish always wins.

We're not a performance brand. We don't have a pro staff. Nobody on our team has ever used the phrase "moisture-wicking technology" with a straight face. We make shirts, hats, and stickers for the people who set an alarm for 4:30 AM, drove to the water, lost the fish, and told the story anyway.

The Long Version

It started the way most things start in Madeira Beach — on a boat, with a beer, after a bad day of fishing. The kind of day where the snook breaks you off on the dock piling, the sheepshead steals every shrimp in the bucket, and the tarpon jumps once just to show you what you're missing before the hook pops out.

We looked around at what was out there. Performance this. Pro-grade that. Brands acting like buying a shirt would make you catch more fish. Nobody was making gear for the actual experience — which, if we're being honest, involves a lot more tangled line than trophy photos.

So we made Broke Off Co. A brand for the days when nothing goes right on the water. Because those are the days with the best stories.

The Art

Every design starts with one rule: the fish always wins, the human always loses, and the humor is in the details. Our illustrations are gallery-quality coastal art with a punchline baked in. Anatomically accurate fish with just enough expression to tell you exactly what they're thinking. Which is usually not much of you.
